03 February 2022: Otrium, the end-of-season fashion platform, announces the appointment of Anja Popp as Chief People Officer to spearhead the company’s people-first HR approach.
With a background in psychology, Anja brings over 15 years’ experience in the HR world, with previous stints at Uberall, King, Fujitsu and AMD informing her approach to a values-driven culture of work.
Anja is a strong proponent of remote work and the home office. With Otrium embracing a cloud-based model of working, Anja is a natural fit for the company. Otrium was dreamt up as a digital-first company with a global, inclusive mindset and moved its
HQ to the cloud in 2021.
Milan Daniels, co-CEO & co-founder of Otrium said:
“It was important for us to find a passionate and experienced leader who believed in the power of people and culture. We place great value on who we employ, and for a company growing as fast as we are, it’s so important to get that right. We’re building a truly diverse global team to achieve our goal of a flexible working model that works for everyone, wherever they are in the world, and we love that Anja champions the freedom that remote working can bring.”
Anja Popp, Chief People Officer, adds:
“It’s a really exciting time to join Otrium. I love vision-led companies and Otrium’s purpose to ensure all clothing is worn and create a more circular fashion industry is compelling. The company is growing fast, but has managed to maintain its strong values. Culture and employee wellbeing is the key driver for performance and I look forward to helping Otirum grow even further with a people-first HR approach. An important aspect of this for me is remote working - I employ people based on their strengths and interests, not based on where they live.”
About Otrium:
Otrium is on a mission to ensure all clothing is worn. Currently, around 1 in 10 items are never sold, remaining in warehouses and eventually ending up in landfills. Working towards a future when all clothing is worn, Otrium goes the extra mile to ensure its brand partners give their unsold items the best chance to find an owner. Otrium :
Uses data from shoppers to create the clothes they want to wear, reducing waste from unsold inventory and creating fashion lines that don't end up unsold and so won’t ultimately find their way to landfills. This is called ‘data-made’ fashion, and Otrium’s proposition in this space has the potential to change how companies produce clothing,
Smartly matches all inventory on its platform with its community of over 3.5 million fashion lovers. Otrium receives and polishes every item in its warehouses to ensure they are optimal before featuring on the site – which includes product photography, product descriptions, garment pressing, steaming and new packaging when required.
Repairs and refurbishes returned items that would otherwise never be sold. With around a quarter of all industry-wide e-commerce fashion sales returned, often slightly damaged and unable to be resold as is, Otrium’s refurbishment services are able to solve this with around half of all its returns being restored and sold.
Otrium works with over 400 fashion brands and serves over 20 markets across Europe and the US. Recent labels joining the roster include Zadig and Voltaire, All Saints, Viktor & Rolf and Thakoon. They join established international brands including Karl Lagerfeld, Reiss and Asics. For its 3.5 million members, Otrium offers a personalized off-price fashion experience and reductions of up to 75%.
